TOLEDO (WTVG) — “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum” is … funny.

Curtain goes up on this musical comedy Friday, June 2, 2017, at the Toledo Repertoire Theatre downtown.

The show caps off The Rep’s 84th season.

“Musically, the orchestral parts aren’t the more difficult,” says Music Director Jamie Dauel, “but the lyrics for these songs, congratulations to all these actors because remembering all these words is really difficult and the words really forward the story.”

For Alexandria Rayford-West, this is her first foray into community theatre.

“It’s very fun,” said Rayford-West who is 18 years old and graduating high school this Spring. “Coming in, not really knowing anybody and not really being prepared, it was very nice having such a supporting cast.”

The director of the show, Amy Spalding-Heuring, agrees.

“We just want people to come, if they’ve never come to The Rep before, to see how good the shows are, to see how wonderful the people are here, and we really want them to be a part of it, as an audience member, as an actor, as a volunteer, that would just be fantastic,” said Spalding-Heuring.

“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” runs Friday, June 2 through Sunday, June 18 with mostly weekend performances and one Thursday.

Tickets range from $7.75-$24.75
