WTVG – Tuesday is a primary election day.

Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and there are contested races in Toledo for Mayor and City Council.

Vying for the top job in Toledo are Incumbent Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson (D), District Councilman Tom Waniewski (R), Lucas County Treasurer Wade Kapszukiewicz (D), and Opal Covey (R). The top two vote getters will face off for the top job during the November 7th general election.

Primary voters in Toledo will also winnow 13 city council candidates down to 12.

In Perrysburg Mayor Michale Olmstead is running against Thomas Mackin and Jonathan Orser.
