A three day spectacular featuring music and art is about to arrive in downtown Toledo.
Momentum – Hot Glass, Cool Music features three days of music and art. It’s the first festival in the newly renovated Promenade Park.
Momentum includes: “Momentum After Dark”, a music event in the Warehouse District. The “Glass, Music, & Art Festival” features more than 20 glass and design vendors plus food trucks, and public art in Promenade Park.
Friday evening, the Toledo Symphony Orchestra presents the Music of Prince in Promenade Park. There is also the month long “Momentum Juried Competition & Exhibition” which will award to $10,000 to artists working in glass and glass-related materials.
One exhibit sure to grab attention is the “Once Upon a Place” interactive installation that utilizes phone booths to relate immigrants’ stories to the public. Visitors enter a booth, pick up the receiver, and listen to personal stories of immigration. A phone book inside details the personal stories and allows visitors to write their own. Phone booths will be installed at three sites: Promenade Park, Toledo Lucas County Public Library and at the University of Toledo.
