Toledo Opera Association

Toledo Opera creates opera experiences that celebrate, both in the theater and beyond its walls, what is unique to opera: dramatic, passionate stories expressed through glorious music and the powerful voices of classically trained singers.

In its 58th year as the only professional opera company in northwest Ohio, Toledo Opera performs its main stage productions, three each year, in the renovated 900-seat Valentine Theatre in downtown Toledo. Starting in 2014-2015, the Opera has included one American opera in its programming. The Toledo Symphony Orchestra plays at all performances, with the Toledo Opera Chorus and Children’s Chorus performing as needed. Near capacity or sold-out houses indicate the strong appetite for opera in the region.

In 1987, the company began offering educational programs which now include An Opera Is a Story for preschoolers, Opera on Wheels for elementary students and Student Night at the Opera for high school and college students. In June 2017, the Opera expanded its education offerings with the first two-week Toledo Opera Boot Camp at Toledo School for the Arts.
