TOLEDO, Ohio (13abc Action News) – An annual toy drive to help local children during the Christmas holidays will begin on Friday, November 17.

13abc’s Hope for the Holidays program benefits the Salvation Army and U.S. Marine Corps Reserves to provide new toys during the Christmas season.

Last year, more than 25,000 toys were donated. Since the Hope for the Holidays campaign began in 2011, more than 113,000 toys have been distributed locally.

The campaign continues through December 15 with toy distribution taking place prior to Christmas. The Salvation Army conducted an earlier application process for those families who need assistance and more than 1,300 families applied.

Again this year, 13abc will partner with Vito’s Pizza, Arnold’s Home Improvement, Dave White Chevrolet and Acura and Jim White Toyota and Gallon, Takacs, Boissoneault & Schaffer to present Hope for the Holidays.

The annual “drive through bash” will be held on Friday, December 8 all day at three area locations. Volunteers will be accepting new toys at 13abc studios at 4247 Dorr Street. There will be food and free entertainment for those driving through to drop off toys.

Locations will also be established in Bowling Green and in Findlay with details to be announced later in November.
