(TOLEDO)— Thousands of youth gymnasts and NCAA gymnastics teams are coming to Toledo in February.

The Elevate the Stage gymnastics meet is brings gymnasts from Bowling Green State University, the University of Denver, the University of Michigan and Utah State along with club teams from across the country to compete February 23-25, 2018 at the Sea Gate Centre.

Elevate the Stage has been held in Birmingham for the last three years as a meet between the University of Alabama and Auburn University. In 2018, Elevate the Stage takes place in six different cities across the United States. Elevate the Stage features a weekend long competition with more than 1,000 youth gymnasts and a women’s collegiate gymnastics meet. This Elevate the Stage meet will bring four of the top collegiate gymnastics programs in the country to Toledo for the first time.

Elevate the Stage provides a championship caliber platform for the student-athletes. The Elevate the Stage meet is staged on the podiums, which have historically only been used for the SEC and NCAA Championships. Competing on the podiums during the regular season gives the teams an incredible advantage heading into post-season competition.

The University of Michigan is ranked in the NCAA Top 10 with some of the country’s top gymnasts going into Elevate the Stage.

“I love that we are expanding the exposure of collegiate women’s gymnastics into the Toledo area and giving all of our Michigan fans and alumni in that area a chance to see our team,” said Michigan Head Coach Bev Plocki in a news release announcing the event. “Being on a podium will help our team a great deal to prepare for what it is like to compete at the NCAA Championship.”

Additionally, Elevate the Stage features a unique philanthropic partnership with the Collegiate Gymnastics Growth Initiative. Elevate the Stage donates $1 per participant per location to CGGI whose efforts directly promote and pursue additions of new women’s collegiate gymnastics programs nationwide.
