TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – You may not know his name or voice, but you have definitely noticed his behind-the-scenes presence. Brian Trauring is leaving 13abc after 16 years helming the newsroom, as our “News Director.”
He’s responsible for the direction of the newsroom, deciding which stories we cover, and which reporters, anchors, and meteorologists you see on a daily basis.
He’s led our special projects, from the recent school safety forum, “The Border Battle,” and even “Thunder in the Hills,” the 13abc NASCAR special. Brian is a huge racing fan and that’s translated on to 13abc’s airwaves.
And have you ever noticed Jamie Farr on 13abc? Over the years, our boss has become great friends with Farr and spearheaded the return of a plaque to Jamie Farr Park. You can listen to Jamie’s remarks in the attached video.
Brian leaves 13abc after nearly two decades with superb #1 ratings, journalistic integrity, and even his trademark “This Is Home” campaign.
He is set to become the Vice President of News, Marketing, and Content Development for Lilly Broadcasting. His coverage area will span from Hawaii to New York, and down to the Virgin Islands.
We’ll miss his guidance and quiet strength!
