TOLEDO (13abc Action News) – The Zest of Toledo, “Passionate People for a Purpose”, is a charitable organization that brings our community together annually to savor the finest in local food, wine, art, and music while raising money to support local people in need of food, shelter and education.

The food tasting gala is April 29 at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Toledo. Only 250 individual tickets will be sold at $175 until April 1 when the price will go up to $225.

The co-chairs, Gus Mancy, Moussa Salloukh, Marla Schecht and Terri Thompson met over the summer with Labib Hajjar and Dean Kasperzak, who make up the rest of the steering committee, to organize this new fundraiser. The team has decades of experience working together organizing and successfully executing this type of an event.

They decided to be a 100% volunteer organization so the proceeds would go to only local charities. This year’s grant recipients are: The Aurora Project, NWO Toledo Foodbank, Toledo GROWS and Toledo Day Nursery.

Nearly two dozen local chefs and restaurants are involved in the inaugural ZesToledo along with dessert and pastry chefs and local baristas.

13abc is proud to sponsor this black tie optional food tasting fundraiser.
